Mama Mimi's Welcomes Wendy and Lumko
Wendy and Lumko Luhabe join Mama Mimi's. Wendy Luhabe has been a Social Entrepreneur for more than 20 years and her passion is the development of people to realize their potential and the participation of women in the economy. She was involved in the founding of the legendary Wiphold which revolutionized South Africa's economy when 18,000 women became investors for the first time. Wiphold remains South Africa's most successful empowerment story.
Lumko Luhabe-Morrison has extensive experience in establishing new markets, building and managing relationships, project management and development throughout Africa. He is an ideal partner to build the business and to bring his network to take advantage of the Entrepreneurial opportunities offered by Mama Mimi's.
We fully subscribe to the sentiment of" Building our Nation one loaf at a time". Why are we excited about this business?
The Economics in Africa are skewed to the dis-advantage of people who have limited resources, they tend to pay the most for basic necessities like BREAD, a day to day staple food for families everywhere. Mama Mimi's intends to change this anomaly by mobilizing ordinary South Africans to become community BAKERS offering quality bread to communities and neighbours at an affordable cost.
In a country where many women in particular are confined to the bottom of the Pyramid, with limited prospects for employment, let alone self-employment, Mama Mimi's offers Micro Entrepreneurial opportunities where they are needed the most, to enable ordinary people to be Financially independent and to restore their dignity. When we grew up we baked our own bread, there is something sacred about being able to enjoy freshly baked bread and being able to keep the money circulating in the communities where people live, whilst uplifting the quality of lives in dis-advantaged communities.
We can think of nothing more exciting to be part of, to help to grow a vision that will change the lives of countless families and communities. The future of our country depends on each of us defining a contribution to society that breaks the poverty cycle at the bottom of the Pyramid. This is our contribution as the Mama Mimi's team.
